Dining at Barnard

People often say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but honestly lunch, dinner, and snack time seem just as crucial. Dining is a great opportunity to meet up with friends, relax, and fuel up for the day. Whether you’re looking for a sit down meal, a cup of coffee, or something to eat on the go, Barnard has an option for you with the 3 main dining locations on campus.

Hewitt Dining Hall

Hewitt Dining Hall, located in the basement of Barnard Hall, is the largest dining facility on Barnard’s campus and is the more traditional college dining hall experience. Open 7 days a week, Hewitt offers a wide variety of foods and is very friendly to people with dietary restrictions. Hewitt has a full kosher kitchen, halal meals, a gluten free section, vegan and vegetarian options, and labels on the menu and at each station that say if the food contains common allergens. If you’re ever confused if food contains a certain ingredient, you can always ask one of the super helpful and friendly Hewitt dining hall staff members! Hewitt also has special events planned throughout the year, such as celebrating National Cupcake Day or Meatless Monday.

Diana Center Café

Located on the second floor of the Diana Center, the Diana Center Café is open 5 days a week and is another great option for meals, either sit down or on the go. Here, items are available for purchase using points or money, but at breakfast and dinner there are meal exchanges. A meal exchange at Diana Center Café allows you to exchange a meal swipe for a meal from a set menu. The menu gives you a wide variety of options and a ton of food for your swipe. Some of Diana Center Café’s features are smoothies, a sandwich bar, burgers (both beef and veggie), salad bar, and the famous Diana Center thin crust pizza.

Liz’s Place is Barnard’s very own coffee shop on campus. They serve delicious pastries and Starbucks coffee on the first level of the Diana Center six days a week. Liz’s place also has the Provisions on Demand station, or the POD. The POD offers pre-made foods, like sandwiches and sushi, and snack options like yogurt, hummus and crackers, and granola bars. With patio seating and large comfy chairs, Liz’s Place is a great place to get your caffeine fix and is a common meeting place for friends and classmates.
